Entrance Exam for the Diploma in Police Studies

All applicants will receive a notification letter about one month before the entrance exam stating whether they can take the exam. Applicants invited to take the exam will also receive the exam material in connection with the notification. Applicants sitting the exam will be charged a fee of EUR 42.

The entrance exam is in three stages. The testing carried out as part of stage 1 takes place at the Police College in Tampere and lasts for about nine hours. Testing carried out as part of stage 2, which lasts between two and three hours, takes place in different parts of Finland. Testing carried out as part of stage 3 takes place at selected medical centres in different parts of Finland. After each stage, the applicants are ranked in accordance with the number of points awarded to them, and those with the highest scores are allowed to progress to the next stage.

» comprehensive medical examination (including a drug test)

 

Exam assessment and retaking the exam

Applicants are awarded points for the tests carried out during the entrance exam as follows: physical fitness test 0 - 5, language test 0 - 8, psychological assessment 0 - 6, writing test 0 - 3, and interview 0 - 5.

An applicant may retake the entrance exam one year after the previous sitting. An applicant may take the entrance exam for the Diploma in Police Studies three times. An applicant showing substantial improvement may, however, be permitted a fourth attempt.
